Jimmie Wyatt Shankle ~ Obituary

A memorial service is planned at noon Monday at McEvoy Funeral Home for Jimmie Wyatt Shankle of Paris. Paul Veazey will officiate.

A private burial of cremains is planned later in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday.

Shankle, 75, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at his residence.

His wife, Carolyn Bomar Shankle, survives. They were married on Nov. 26, 1959.

Born Feb. 2, 1939, in Henry County, he was the son of Green Wyatt Shankle and Jonnie Hopkins Shankle, both deceased.

Shankle was a member of First United Methodist Church, a longtime member of the Optimist Club and a Grove High School graduate. He retired from Henry Farmers Co-op as a gas station attendant. He was an avid duck hunter and outdoorsman.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter: Tammie (Eddie) Roberts of Paris; a daughter-in-law: Sharon Turner Shankle of Paris; four grandchildren: Stefanie (Annibale) Clericuzio, Ashley Lane Shankle, Dylan Roberts (and fiancee Emilee Czenk) and Paige Roberts;

Three sisters-in-law: Brenda (Sonny) Wagner, Peggy Hicks and Valerie Bomar; four brothers-in-law: Gerald (Carol) Bomar, James (Wilma) Bomar, Randy (Marie) Bomar and Harold Bass;

Four aunts: Regina Lamb, Dorothy Ward, Kay (Jim) Forsythe and Nancy Hopkins; one uncle: Keith (Pat) Hopkins; and several cousins.

He also was preceded in death by a son: Wyatt Lane Shankle on May 2, 2004; and several aunts and uncles.
