| Funeral Services for Lan Hinton
Pierce, 76, of Paris Route 4, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at McEvoy
Funeral Home with Charles Orr of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pierce died Tuesday Afternoon in Jackson-Madison General Hospital, Jackson. He was born November 13, 1909, in Henry County to the late Matthew Jones and Lilly May Shankle pierce. He was married on December 26, 1936, to Wanda Stout, who survives. He was tyhe retired plant manager for Burlington Industries in Greesboro, North Carolina. A graduate of Grove High School and Bowling Green Kentucky Business College. He was a former Boy Scout leader, a member of the Kiwanis, Served as president of the Greensboro Civitan Club and was executive vice president of the Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of First Baptis Church In Paris and the Gideons. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Martha P. Suggs of Greensboro, Clara P. Jones of Oceanside, California, and Catherine P. Jones of Dover; a twin brother, Clinton Pierce of Madison, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell Pierce. |
