DeHart Ownby, 77, of Dupo, Ill. died Monday, April 5, 2010, at Calvin
Johnson Nursing Home in Belleville, Ill. Locally, she leaves a sister-in-law: Dianne Maynard of Paris. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Dupo, where she had been a member since 1963. The Rev. Roger Reid will officiate. A graveside service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday at Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Paris. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Dashner-Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo and after noon Thursday at the church. Born Aug. 8, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Vonnie and Estelle Moon DeHart. Her husband of 50 years, Danis Ray Ownby, preceded her in death. Ownby was a homemaker. At First Baptist Church in Dupo, she served as Sunday school secretary for 17 years and according to a family member, enjoyed taking care of her family and helping out at her church. She leaves two daughters: Kim Ownby of Dupo and Malissa (Dan) Shawley of Rogersville, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She also was preceded in death by two sisters: Martha Denton and Christine Buie. Memorials may be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church in Dupo. |
