| The funeral service for
electrician Byron H. Owen of Paris was at 2 p.m. Sunday at McEvoy Funeral
Home. Maley Davidson from Nelson Creek Primitive Baptist Church, where Owen was a member, and David Alan Jackson officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Named as pallbearers were Larry and Jack Woodard, Kevin and Mike Owen, Steve Jackson and Tom Allen. Visitation was Saturday and Sunday. Owen, 74, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Saint Thomas Hospital. His wife, Betty Jackson Owen, survives. They were married on July 24, 1967. A Weakley County native, he was born April 23, 1938, in Gleason, a son of the late Henry W. and Mattie Vaughn Owen. A Grove High School graduate, he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. A family member said he was an avid golfer. He also leaves one daughter: Kelly Owen (Philip) Makes of New York City; two brothers: Gordon Owen of Paris and James (Neva) Owen of Lansing, Mich.; Four sisters-in-law: Joy Greengrass and Charlotte Jackson, both of Buchanan, Dene Bennett of Como and Ludene Owen of Paris; and one brother-in-law: Guy Wiggins (Liz) Jackson of Macon, Ga. He also was preceded in death by five sisters: Geneva McClure, Naomi Woodard, Marjorie Heath, Sarah McGuire and Joyce Morris; one brother: Harold Owen; one sister: Delores Allen; and two brothers-in-law: David Hugh Jackson and Toy Lee Jackson.
