Clarice Allen Myers ~ Obituary

Peach orchard co-owner and operator Clarice Allen Myers, 79, of Paris died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Paris Health Care Center.

She was married on Jan. 19, 1953, to Ray Alvin Myers, who survives.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church, where she was a longtime member and had been active in the Lutheran Women Missionary League for several years.

Luther Hasz, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Birds Creek Baptist Church Cemetery near Whitlock.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home.

A Henry County native, she was born March 15, 1934, in Whitlock, the daughter of the late Albert Hilman Allen and Neddie M. Pillow Allen.

Myers co-owned and operated Myers Peach Orchard on Highway 54 in Henry County. A former worker with Henry County Helping Hand, she served as its vice president and secretary.

She also served as an officer of the Farm Bureau Women organization and was a former member of the Henry County Cancer Society’s board of directors. She was a “seasoned” traveler, living in Germany and touring Europe as a career Army wife. A family member said she enjoyed fishing, playing games with friends and family and tending to her flowers and birds.

Besides her husband, she leaves several nieces and nephews, including, Judy Reeves, Darlene Allen Combs, Janet Hudgins, Gene Albert Allen and Bobby G. Allen and several others who live in Tennessee and South Carolina.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers: James Allen, Mason “Archie” Allen and Gene Allen and one nephew: Phillip D. Allen.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 3235 Highway 79 South, Paris.
