| Nova B. McNeill Montgomery (December 2, 1911 - August 21, 2006) Retired school teacher Nova B. McNeill Montgomery, 94, of Paris died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at her Paris residence. A graveside service was planned at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23 at Murray City Cemetery, with Gary S. Collier officiating. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until noon Wednesday, Aug. 23 at McEvoy Funeral Home. She was born Dec. 12, 1911, in Water Valley, Ky. A story in September 1998 in The Post-Intelligencer stated her mother died when she was a child and she was raised by an older sister. She was married on Aug. 10, 1940, in Williamsburg, Va., to J. Paul Montgomery, who died Oct. 29, 2000. She was a graduate of Water Valley High School in Graves County. She graduated in 1934 from Western Kentucky State Teachers College, now Western Kentucky University, in Bowling Green. Mrs. Montgomery taught in Kentucky and Tennessee before retiring from Grove Junior High School, now Grove School, in Paris. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris and the Retired Teachers Association. She leaves two nephews: Tom (Rita) Montgomery of Owensboro, Ky., and Joe Montgomery of Nashville; one niece: Maggie Griffith of Nashville; and a great-niece: Eleanor McDonald of Nashville. She also was preceded in death by two sisters: Byrdie and Ruby McNeill. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. |
