| A memorial service
is planned at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home for former Paris
Post-Intelligencer news editor and systems manager Gene McCutcheon of Paris. Honorary pallbearers will be staff of The P-I and John Lee and Jimmy Huffman. Visitation will be one hour before the service. McCutcheon, 67, died Sunday Jan. 19, 2014, at Henry County Healthcare Center. The body was cremated. Born Dec. 17, 1946, in Paris, he was a son of the late Daron Ewell and Carolyn Russell McCutcheon. McCutcheon was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris. A 40-year journalist, he also was formerly employed by The Murray Ledger & Times as a sports editor and news editor, before last being employed by The P-I. He leaves one daughter: Jill McCutcheon of Portland, Ore.; two sons: Russell (Bonnie) McCutcheon of Gettysburg, Pa., and Tyler (Kate) McCutcheon of Chatham, Ill.; two sisters: Ann (Andy) Broach of Paris and Edie (Russell) Henley of Niceville, Fla.; A sister-in-law: Alice McCutcheon of Paris; a niece: Lynn McCutcheon of Paris; a nephew: Christopher Broach of Jackson; an uncle: Charles (Joy) McCutcheon of Paris; and a cousin: Bill McCutcheon of Paris. He also was preceded in death by a brother: Tom McCutcheon. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. |
