| Services for Lester Clarke "Buddy"
Jones Jr., 50, of Elsie Lane, Paris, will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Bird's
Creek Baptist Church in Whitlock. The Revs. Steve Gallimore of Bird's Creek Church and Larry Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Dean Howd, Joe Townsend, Mike Vanacker, John Van Dyck, Jerry Lee, Bob Lane and Clyde Gaskins. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday. Jones died of cancer at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 1996, at Henry County Medical Center. Born March 29, 1945 in Louisville Ky., he was a son of Elsie Hawkins Kendall of Paris and the late Lester C. Jones Sr. He was married March 13, 1970, to the former Karen Peery, who survives. He was a 1963 graduate of Grove High School, where he was involved with the football, baseball and boxing teams. An Army veteran, he was employed by Ed Covington Chevrolet, formerly of Paris. He also was employed as a carpenter, until his illness, and an avid golfer. He was a member of Jolley Springs Baptist Church. He also leaves three daughters, Lesley Jones, Landa Jones and Mrs. Bryan (Lydia) Spirko, all of Paris; one son, Lester C. "B.J." Jones III of Paris; a sister, Marilyn Gabel of Springville; two nephews; one niece; three grandnephews; and one grandniece. A grandchild, Bryana M. Spirko, is expected to be born in April.
