| Lorita Lockhart DeMent, 80
of Sanford, formerly of Raleigh and Wilmington passed away Friday Oct. 24,
2014. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Port City Community Church in Wilmington. Mrs. DeMent was a native of Paris, Tennessee and retired from the North Carolina Dept. of Agriculture. Prior to her work with the Dept. of Agriculture Mrs. DeMent worked with the Governor's Office under Governor Jim Martin. Mrs. DeMent is survived by her children, Lynn Brown and husband Doug of Wilmington, John "Happy" Lashlee and wife Rebecca of Clarkton, Rachel Ellis of Garner, Clay DeMent of Sanford; brother Waldo "Bubba" Lockhart and wife Becky of TN; step son, Bill Dement and partner Ed of Raleigh; seven grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Lynn & Doug Brown's residence, 905 Clydesdale Ct., Wilmington.
