Edith La Rue Shekell Crenshaw, 92, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, Illinois. She was a member of Paducah First Baptist Church. La Rue was born in Paris, Tennessee, on January 26, 1924, to Richard and Lurlene Shekell. She was a retired nurse, having worked at Henry County Hospital in Paris, Tennessee, Murray-Calloway County Hospital and as an assistant to Dr. John E. Newman in Paris. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 25 years and Daughter of the Neith Temple No. 80 in Madisonville, Kentucky. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Richard Howard Crenshaw of Paducah, Kentucky; her stepdaughter, Lucinda Marie Barnett and husband, Terry of Cadiz, Kentucky; her stepson, Timmy Ray Crenshaw of Paducah, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Russell Gene McCutcheon and wife, Bonnie of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Jill McCutcheon of Portland, Oregon, Amanda Crenshaw and Timberly Crenshaw, both of Benton, Kentucky, Hannah Barnett of Cadiz, Kentucky; her step-grandson, Derek Englert and wife, Shannon of Benton, Kentucky; her great-grandchildren, Maddie and Sylvie Englert and Bailey Jackson, all of Benton, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard K. Shekell and Lurlene Robertson Shekell; her stepdaughter, Rue Jean Jenquin; her half-sisters, Mille and Lillie Shekell; her brother, Orville Shekell; her half-brother, Rupert Shekell. A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, Tennessee. The Rev. Tommy Tucker will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
