William Barry Compton ~ Obituary

Paris native William Barry Compton, 77, of Lexington died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Compton was born April 4, 1937, to the late Carl and Myrtle Compton.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edwina Nelle Brooks Compton, his sweetheart from Grove High School.

A member of First Baptist Church in Lexington, he retired after working nearly 40 years with the Tennessee Valley Authority. Family members said he was a fisherman, landscaper and carpenter.

Compton is survived by two daughters: Phyllis Compton and Barrie Candace Compton, both of Lexington; a son: Robert Stacy (Lori) Compton of Lexington;

Four grandchildren: Andrea Taylor (Matthew) Horton, Matt Compton, Corey Hayes and Mason Williams; four great-grandchildren: Megan Horton, Carlee Horton, Lucas Compton and Junior Hayes; a sister: Kathy Compton of Paris; and a sister-in-law Glenda Brooks Minton of Nashville.

Reed’s Chapel Funeral Home in Lexington was in charge of arrangements.
