John W. Bucy ~ Obituary

Paris native and retired pharmacist John W. Bucy, 85, of Brady, Texas, died Monday, July 1, 2013, in Brady.

His wife, Merlyn Bucy, survives. They were married on June 20, 1954. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today.

Born March 29, 1928, he was a son of the late John Elvis Bucy and Ruby Chilcutt Bucy.

He held a doctorate in pharmacy and owned Heart of Texas Pharmacy for more than 30 years. He was mayor of Brady in the early 1980s and served on the city council. He owned Rainbow Realty, was a longtime member of the Lions Club and a Christian. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Other survivors are two sons, Dale (Tina) Bucy and Andy (Stella) Bucy, and two daughters, Janis (Glenn) Miller and Karen (Delmas) Vandine, all of Brady; a sister: Brenda (Nick) Parker of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren: Kevin (Dani) Bucy of San Antonio, Chris Vandine of San Marcos, Shelby Miller of Lubbock and Amanda Vandine of Houston; one expected great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by a brother, Ralph Bucy; a sister, Margie Rieben; and a granddaughter, Amber Bucy.
